GOVERNMENT POLICIES TO IMPROVE EDUCATION SECTOR DURING THE PANDEMIC

 GOVERNMENT SCHEMES TO FUND SCHOOL:

                              The government last year announced a digital university and 200 TV channels under the E-Vidya scheme and allotted more funds to improve schools digital infrastructures. Many low budget schools have shut down during the covid-19 pandemic due to shortage of fund. Assistance was provided to them. Learning materials were shared among the students easily and related queries where solved through emails, SMS, phone calls and WhatsApp. 

TELEVISION FOR EDUCATION:

                            Swayam prabha, 32 DTH TV channels transmitting educational contents on 24x7 basis was established. The channel covers both school and college education in arts, science, commerce, law, technology,medicine agriculture and so on.The importance of this platform is the students can access these facilities without having internet for the whole day. 

AUDIO-VISUAL AIDS:

                            Extensive use of radio, community radio and CBSE podcast-Shiksha Vani. Special content for visual and hearing impaired developed on digitally accessible information system and in sign language on NIOS website/YouTube. Besides the ministry has undertaken a proactive named "Mano Darpan" to provide psychosocial support to the students,teachers and families for mental health and emotional well-being during the COVID outbreak and beyond.

NATIONAL EDUCATION POLICY:

                   National education policy 2020 focuses on improving the standard of education through various measures such as introduction of new pedagogical and curricular structure, early childhood care and education, foundational literacy and numeracy, transforming assessment for student development, experiential and competency based learning.COVID-19 has also affected the social aspects of education. This change has potential long-term impacts on students social development. The Indian higher education sector has witnessed the massive increased in the number of universities/university level institution and college since independence. Indian higher education system has expanded at a fast pace by adding nearly 20,000 colleges and more than 8 million students in a decade from 2000-2010. 

CONCLUSION:

          COVID-19'S impact on education is profound and far reaching.It has not only exposed the drawbacks in our education system but also presented opportunities for innovation and improvement. As we navigated this new landscape, it is crucial to address all.
